So the disease that both the doctor from yesterday and from today think EM has is called Roseola infantum, which is apparently very common and I shouldn’t be panicking too much. So common the clinic has this hand out (pictured above) to give out to stressed, worried parents. The cute character makes everything seem better you see. For reference the kanji for this is 突発性発疹 ( とっぱつせいはっしん) [toppatsuseihasshin]. Somehow the doctor today was surprised I did not know this word. After the entire consultation in Japanese he was explaining that probably on Wednesday the rash would appear. The only English word he knew was Wednesday and was delighted to be able to use it. Over and over. Pointless translation irks me.

We are in for a long non sleeping night - the 3rd one in a row. He’s “sleeping” but only if on Mum or Dad directly - otherwise it’s lots of wriggling. I just want all the ouchies to go away. I miss my crazy little guy - I don’t understand this quiet, resting - albeit very warm - baby.

I might have to go tip over the bottle of soy sauce Yoshi has left absentmindedly on the table myself.
