A Rare State of Sleep
Between standing and 6 teeth sleep has been a hard fought battle at every nap and bed time.
Like just now. EM was asleep wrapped to my back and had moved to “rag doll” stage, when it’s usually safe to put him in his bed. Except lately he’ll only stay asleep there for 15 minutes, unless it’s a miracle session and he’ll sleep for 1-2 hours. It’s usually worth the risk of transferring him - especially right now when I’m still trying to get over a bout of flu and not as strong as usual. This time I managed to get him wrapped on my back and asleep again.
Unfortunately it’s not a case of it being OK to just let him be awake because when he’s tired he won’t go to sleep - he whines, he gets into things he knows he’s not supposed to, he rubs his eyes, he falls over which leads to tears. And this spirals downwards the longer he stays awake. So it’s best to get him asleep as quickly as possible - because after a sleep he’s genki, happy smiling baby.
So far trying to set a routine doesn’t work although we have a vague one of sorts. Nap in the morning, nap in the afternoon and if those have been 15 minutes only maybe another one in the evening. Bed time ranges from 8pm - 3am. *cries*
We’ve been trying out a few “foolproof” solutions - but so far EM is having none of it. UltraBob lent us the Baby Sleep Solution but EM refuses to drink the suggested amount of milk during the day - and will wake up during the night for smaller feedings. You ignore those wakings at your own peril. There is only a small window between getting him fed and back to sleep - and him waking up fully, feeding and then deciding it’s party time.
If it wasn’t for the baby-wearing I think we’d all be institutionalized by now. In comfy padded rooms. This wrap is like kryptonite!
So we are left with waiting I guess! This can’t continue until he leaves home can it?
