About Womb Quake

Who are you?

The brief version is - my name is MJ, I’m an Australian who has lived in Japan for over 10 years and am married to Yoshi, a rather non-typical Japanese boy. We currently live in Japan which is why most of my pregnancy experiences are focused on having a baby in Japan.

This is our first kid - and he turned up as a surprise. I guess this is what happens when Mummy & Daddy drink too much on Mummy’s Birthday…..

The beginning of my pregnancy was one of doom and gloom - I was told I would miscarry - but as I write this About page I am leaning over a huge tummy to reach the keyboard, a week away from his estimated due date.

Where the hell does “Womb Quake” come from?

Several months ago I was in irc and I was sneezing a lot and commented that it must feel like an earthquake for the Blob (as he was then known) and hence the phrase “womb quake” was born. Of course I had to get the url - I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with it at the time but then thought I may as well use it for this.

As for quakes I have rather an obsession for them - you would know this if you read Cerebral Soup (^_~).

Some of the older entries have come from Cerebral Soup, others adapted from emails, and some from private scribbles to myself over the past few months.

Well apart from me (obviously) Tracey, Kristen and Yoshi may be moblogging at some point during the time I’m actually busy getting on with the whole birthing deal. Yoshi’s posts will possibly only be in Japanese.
